Delicious coffee doesn’t need to be complicated; the French press system, by far the simplest of all brewing methods, is widely regarded as the key to making the tastiest cup of joe. Add ground beans and hot water, lower the plunger, then enjoy – it really is that easy. It’s no exaggeration to say that our Chambord® French Press has the potential to transform your experience of making and drinking coffee.

Like the famous château that shares its name, the Chambord® French Press is a true original with a timeless design and superior craftsmanship. Uncomplicated, efficient and stylish, Chambord® French Presses are trusted by millions of coffee lovers worldwide. They’re perfectly in keeping with the spirit of the French press system, which pares coffee making down to the essentials for the best results.

Pick up the funnel then pull the filter chain down and hook it onto the end of the tube. Place the funnel on top of the jug so that the tube is immersed in the water. Check that the area where jug and funnel meet is sealed. Press the power button – the light and sound let you know that the coffee maker is now switched on. Put the lid on top of the funnel.

Top tip: fresh, lightly roasted beans possess a particularly pleasant, non-astringent flavour.

Boil fresh water in your kettle (use 4 oz. per cup). Filtered water is preferable, as it has fewer impurities than water straight from the tap. When the kettle boils, wait 30 seconds so that the temperature drops to 92-96°C: that range brings out the very best in all coffees. Pour the water slowly into the carafe in a circular motion to ensure that the ground beans are covered evenly. Be careful not to overfill it – leave at least an inch of room at the top.

Top tip: to be really precise, you could check the water temperature with a food thermometer.

Stir with a plastic or wooden spoon and remove the foam from the surface (leaving it would make the coffee more bitter). Put the lid back on the carafe and turn it to the ‘closed spout’ position to help retain heat. Four minutes is the optimum brewing time.

Here comes the most satisfying stage in the French press process. Hold the handle firmly and turn the carafe until the spout faces away from you. Gently push down on the plunger to stop the coffee brewing and lock the grounds at the bottom of the carafe. The plunger should descend smoothly; if not, simply stir the coffee and try again. Open the spout and serve – delicious coffee in minutes!

If you don’t have time to drink up before you head out, don’t worry. You can enjoy amazing, homemade coffee on the move with the Bodum® Travel Mug collection. Quickly and without much effort you can conjure up an aromatic cup of coffee for yourself or your whole family.

This coffee maker is a beautiful extension of our classic CHAMBORD line of products with their typical bakelite handles.

The borosilicate double wall glass of the CHAMBORD coffee maker is encased in stainless steel, protecting the glass beautifully. It also makes the CHAMBORD completely spill-proof and safe, in case it gets knocked over.

The silicone gasket connecting the lid and the glass adds to the insulating effect of the double wall glass helping maintain the heat of the coffee even longer.

The simple push of a lever lets the coffee flow into the cup – all easily manageable with one hand.

As far as coffee making is concerned, manual preparation is more popular than ever. With our coffee makers, the coffee beans develop their fullest aroma. Thus, it is no surprise that manual coffee preparation is the favorite method of all coffee lovers. The simplest way to get a good cup of coffee: coarsely ground coffee, hot water, let stand for 4 minutes and push the plunger down. The latest generation of the CHAMBORD has a hinged mechanism in the lid which keeps the coffee maker tight if it should fall over.

  •  With the French press system typical of BODUM for full-bodied and special coffee pleasure.
  • The pot is made of flavor-neutral borosilicate glass.
  •  With leak protection: the lid has a bayonet closure and is equipped with a silicone seal which holds the coffee in the pot if the CHAMBORD® coffee maker is accidentally knocked over.
